Spider plants are virtually indestructible and are a popular choice, working well as a hanging plant. It’s also very effective at absorbing pollutants.
Snake plant (Mother-in-law’s Tongue) is also very easy to grow. It has dramatic, sword-like variegated succulent leaves.
Jade plant, sometimes called the Money Tree, is another easy-care succulent with thick, lush leaves.
Aloe Vera is a succulent, well known for its healing properties, and has short, pointed leaves
Rubber tree - If you’re looking for a statement houseplant, try this one! It can grow to 8’ tall, but can be kept smaller by trimming any long stems.
Dieffenbachia- A very attractive houseplant with lime green leaves. Again, this can grow to 6’ tall and will make a beautiful focal point.
Heart-leaf Philodendron- The clue is in the name as this has quick-growing, lush green heart-shaped leaves. Lovely as a hanging plant.
Peace Lily - A very popular houseplant with dark leaves and pretty white flowers. Amazingly easy to grow!
Kalanchea blossfeldiana ‘calandiua ‘ has double yellow flowers and is tough enough to bloom on and off all year without much attention.
Ficus benjamina could be classed as a small dainty tree with its silvery bark and dark green leaves. It will take up a fairly large space, but looks fabulous!
Peperomia is a small plant with textured, shiny and colourful leaves. Varieties include watermelon, red-edge and ripple Peperomia.
Areca Palm - Finally, for a truly tropical feel, try this house palm, which can be kept manageable by keeping it in a smaller container.
